12V vs 24V LED Strip Lights

Reviewed September 15, 2026

What changes with voltage?

Voltage does not automatically determine brightness or color quality. It changes current, available cutting increments, driver selection and practical run length. The strip and driver voltage must always match.

Can a 24V strip use a 12V driver?
No. The strip and constant-voltage driver output must match.
Is 24V always brighter?
No. Compare the stated lumens per foot and watts per foot for the exact model.

Use voltage as a system decision

For the current CADORVEN assortment, 24V is the default specification platform. Confirm the exact strip voltage before selecting the driver, controller, connector and wire. A 12V alternative should be treated as a different system rather than a drop-in substitute.

Record these values before approval

Estimate driver capacity or send the run schedule to the project desk.
